Data lakes get a bad rap for being data swamps – large collections of poorly organized, dirty, and minimally-documented data in Hadoop.  More recently, critics argue that most data lakes fail to impact the business. They never become data marketplaces – enterprise-scale sources of business-ready data for business-oriented data consumers across organizations.
